Hi All!
George Town has two regattas. The first one in February is the Cruisers Regatta. There are two races in the Cruisers Regatta. One around the island and the other in the harbor around markers. They are always fun to participate in. This year we got Third Place for the “around the harbor race.” We were with buds Corbett and Robin/COOKIE MONSTER.
The second race is the last weekend in April and it is called the National Family Island Regatta. It is like the Americas Cup in cruising for the Bahamas.. The islands of the Bahamas have sloop sailboats and they race them for the National Championship. It is lots of fun to watch them and they have a three day 24/7 party! We have missed the Family Island Races since we leave the beginning of April to work our way back home Hopefully next year we will stay to see them. In Staniel Cay on New Year’s Day they have one of the preliminary races for the Bahamian sloops.
Tom was able to crew on Nassau’s A-Class Sloop Courageous a few years ago. He had a great time and it was certainly fun to watch them!
Hope all is well with you and yours! Thanks for stopping by! Cathie on s/v INTERLUDE. OUT.
